I'm Kara!

I strive to capture authentic snapshots of life that can be cherished for years to come.

My photography journey started when 10-year-old me received a point-and-shoot camera for Christmas circa 2008. I started photographing friends and family for fun during middle school and high school, teaching myself along the way. 15 years, several photography courses, hundreds of photo sessions and lots of camera upgrades later, I'm currently based in Michigan photographing portraits, couples, seniors, families and anything else that comes my way.

My approach

I've always loved how photography has the ability to turn our ever-changing and fast-paced lives into discrete, tangible memories. Life goes by fast, but photos let us savor it. I aim to provide photos that evoke the emotions you felt right then and there. Photos that document you and your loved ones, raw and authentically. Photos that are bright, true-to-real-life, full of color and timeless.

In all of my years of photography, I've found that the best photos stem from moments when clients forget we're even taking photos in the first place! Being photographed can be a little daunting -- I know. I strive to strike a balance between ample direction and the freedom to be yourself. Photos should celebrate and remind you of the beautiful and unique person you are.

Fun fact: In addition to my work as a photographer, I am a part-time pediatric speech-language pathologist. I am passionate about building interpersonal connections and creating a comfortable environment for kids, families and clients of all ages (I also have some tricks up my sleeves to get the little ones to smile and laugh!) :)

I studied Spanish in college and spent some time in Seville, Spain -- it was incredible!
Iceland, Thailand and Greece are at the top of my travel bucket list
