A tangible record of your most meaningful moments, captured thoughtfully so your story can be remembered for generations.
My photography is rooted in human connection, capturing the small, unscripted moments and interactions that shape your day. I photograph intentionally, blending gentle posing guidance with a documentary approach so your day unfolds naturally. My goal is always true-to-color, timeless images that preserve your day exactly as it happened.
I handle all the behind-the-scenes details so you can fully immerse yourself in your day. Many clients tell me that my thoughtful, attentive approach makes them feel relaxed and present, allowing moments and ultimately memories to feel effortless.
Three words that define my work: emotion-driven, honest, enduring. I aim to create images that are personal and lasting — a true reflection of your day you’ll return to for years to come.
She is extremely professional, creative, and organized. Kara captured every special moment of the day, and she even helped me figure out how to bustle up my wedding dress before dinner (true dedication to making the day run smoothly). We love our photos, and I look at them every single day with my husband.”
Start by filling out the contact form on my website. I’ll respond within 1–2 business days with everything you need to feel informed and comfortable moving forward.
A few months before your wedding, you’ll receive a detailed questionnaire and we’ll meet to review your timeline together. This ensures every important moment is accounted for while leaving room for the candid, unplanned interactions that make your day personal and memorable.
Yes! I love to travel and would be so excited to travel to capture your story. A travel fee of .70 cents/mile applies for weddings/sessions more than 30 miles from Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Portrait sessions are usually ready within 4-5 weeks, while wedding galleries are delivered within 6-8 weeks. Turn-around times fluctuate depending on my workload and the time of year. I work carefully to make sure every photo is beautifully edited and worth the wait.
A 50% non-refundable retainer is required at the time of booking to secure your date and time. Your remaining session fee is due 1 week prior to your session or wedding.
A second shooter is like the cherry on top — not required for beautiful, complete coverage, but a great addition if you’d like to elevate your gallery. I’m fully comfortable photographing weddings on my own, but a second shooter can be helpful for overlapping moments or additional perspectives throughout the day. All second shooters are carefully selected by me and can be added to your package if it feels like the right fit.
Weather is unpredictable, especially in the Midwest! I always wait until the day of a session to make the call, and I only reschedule if I feel that the weather will absolutely interfere with you receiving great photos. If we do need to reschedule, I will contact you to find another session date/time that works for both of us. I always keep a few extra "rain dates" available in my schedule.
While it’s extremely rare, if I am ever unable to attend your wedding due to illness or an emergency, it is my responsibility to find another trusted photographer to capture your day. I will also do my best to help behind the scenes and complete all editing so nothing is missed. Everything is clearly outlined in your contract to ensure peace of mind for both of us.
On average, I deliver at least 80-100 images per hour of shooting.
1000% yes. Every person and every type of love is welcome here -- I have zero tolerance for any form of discrimination.
I always bring back-up equipment to every session and wedding so that I can be prepared in the extremely rare case should a technical mishap occur. I shoot with 2 memory cards in my camera, meaning every photo I take is always immediately backed up onto another one. Once I get home, I promptly back up your photos onto two separate hard-drives to ensure their safety until I deliver them to you!
It’s hard to remember a time when photography wasn’t a part of my life. I picked up my first camera at the age of ten, but formally started my business in 2016. Still pinching myself that this is my job!
